League President - Brian Spagnola

Brian Spagnola is the Owner/President/GM of the Amsterdam Mohawks of the Perfect Game Collegiate Summer Baseball League.  The Mohawks are traditionally one of the top places for summer baseball in America, ranking in the top 10 nationally and winning many league championships.  The Mohawks draw players mostly from SEC, ACC, Big 10 schools, etc and average almost 1500 fans per night.  Hunter Pence is the team's most famous alum.  

Spagnola also is President of the Capital District Interstate Collegiate League in upstate NY, the Empire State Prospect Games and the NorthEast Recruiting Showcase, two events that have become popular among both players and coaches.

He resides in Amsterdam, NY with his wife Jill and their 5 children.

Fightin Crabs - Nick Giaquinto (Sacred Heart)

Nick is entering his 29th year as Head Coach of northeast power Division I Sacred Heart University.  The Pioneers have reached the Northeast Conference championship game 7 years in a row and have won their conference title 4 times and advanced to the NCAA Division I regionals.  Giaquinto has garnered many coaching accolades during his tenure at Sacred Heart including Coach of the Year Honors multiple times.  He has had numerous Sacred Heart players drafted into professional baseball during his coaching career as well.  As a player, Nick actually played in the NFL for four years from 1980-83 for the Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins and won a Super Bowl with the Redskins in 1983.

Suns - Karl Bithorn (The Baseball Project) 


Karl "Coach K" Bithorn returns to the Virginia Beach Collegiate Baseball League for his second season as the Suns Manager. Coach K also serves as the VBCBL Director of Recruiting. Coach K is no stranger to Summer collegiate baseball after three successful seasons in the highly touted Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) 2013-2015.  Coach Bithorn, well acquainted with the PGCBL served as bench coach for the Cooperstown Hawkeyes (2013) and the Glens Falls Golden Eagles (2014) respectively. In 2013 he helped guide Eann Cox (Black Hawk CC) to the PGCBL Pitcher of the Year Award. In 2015 he served as pitching coach for the Nationally Ranked Amsterdam Mohawks under legendary coach Keith Griffin where he assisted in the development of many high profile pitchers including 2015 Pitcher of the Year Zach Logue (Kentucky) and #1 rated pro prospect Kyle Smith (NC State). In addition to that the Amsterdam Mohawks set the league record for wins (42) and finished the summer 42-10 and a top 10 national ranking. Prior to the PGCBL, Coach K spent two seasons as pitching coach for NCAA Division II Dominican College (NY) as well as an assistant coach at St. Thomas University(FL) for the 2009-2010 season and helped guide them to the opening round of the NAIA National Championships.  Bithorn was born and raised in Miami, FL and graduated from American High School in 2005. He has been director of several baseball camps and community service projects in South Florida and now resides in Branson, Missouri.

Karl is the Great Nephew of legendary Puerto Rican baseball player Hiram Bithorn, who was the first Puerto Rican to play in Major League Baseball in 1943 for the Chicago Cubs.

John Torres Bio: Currently in his 2nd year with( NJCAA D1) Monroe College(New Rochelle Campus) He is a Recruiting Coordinator, and Assistant Coach. Monroe has won 3 straight Region 15 Championships and produced 3 MLB Draft picks.

Globe Institute of Technology(NJCAA D1) in 2015,  Recruiting Coordinator/Associate Head Coach. 

2014 New York Institute of Technology( NCAA D1) Recruiting Coordinator/ Assistant Coach. 

2011-13 with Felician College( NCAA D2) Won a Conference regular season title and Final four conference appearances in both years.

In 2010,  Head coach of Polytechnic Institute of New York University (NCAA D3). 

2006-09  Head coach of St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn. (NCAA D3)

2003-06  Head Coach at Borough of Manhattan Community College and is known as the only coach to guide the Panthers to a Region 15 final four appearance. 

Professionally, Torres is a former associate scout for the New York Mets. He served 5 seasons as the clubhouse manager for the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Mets' single-A affiliate, and was once was an assistant coach for the Sussex Skyhawks of the Independent Professional Cam-Am League.

Torres began his collegiate playing career(1986) at Division-I Wagner College before spending 1987-89 at the College of Staten Island. Torres is a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association. John received a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from John Jay College in 2007 and is currently working on his Masters in Sports Management.

Rays -  Billy Gaskins (Southeastern CC)

Billy Gaskins played collegegiately at UNC-Pembroke as a3rd baseman.  He started his coaching career as an assistant coach in the Coastal Plains League with the Fayetteville Swampdogs.  Gaskins was also was an assistant coach for the all-star select team against Team USA.  Billy is currently an assistant coach at Southeastern Community College as a hitting/outfield/3rd base coach.


Dolphins -  Dylan Wolchik (Limestone College) 

Dylan Wolchik enters his third year as an assistant baseball coach at Limestone following an impressive collegiate playing career. Wolchik, who earned All-American honors three times as a player, has previously served as a volunteer coach at nearby Lander University and was an assistant coach with the Petersburg Generals of the Coastal Plain League during the 2015 season.
During his first two seasons with the Saints, he helped mentor a young pitching staff that has combined for 41 wins and one Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Week award.
As a player, he was named a Freshman All-American while at Florida Tech and earned Honorable Mention All-American accolades in each of his two seasons at Lander. He is the only pitcher in the history of the Peach Belt Conference to lead the league in wins during back-to-back seasons, and was named the NCAA Statistical Champion in wins during his senior year after helping guide the Bearcats to the 2014 NCAA Southeast Regional Championship.
Wolchik graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration/Management and Marketing Emphasis from Lander in 2014. 


Sharks -  Michael Breen (San Jose State)

Michael Breen, born and raised in Hollister, California, enters his first year as a head coach in the VBCBL. Currently, Breen is the graduate assistant at San Jose State University, a Division 1 program in the Mountain West Conference. Breen is a recent graduate of SJSU, and played for all 4 years for the Spartans. He was mainly an infielder, although he played every position except for catcher and centerfield throughout his tenure. His summer collegiate baseball career was an adventurous one, having played for the DC Grays in the Cal Ripken Collegiate League in 2014, the Belmont Owls in the Rocky Mountain Collegiate League in 2015, and was a member of the inaugural Gresham Greywolves in the West Coast League in 2016. This previous summer, Breen was an assistant for the Utah Marshalls, an independent summer team that ended their season with a 69-13 record. Having earned his business marketing degree, Breen is currently pursuing his master’s in sports management.
